Really Small Museum – “The Night Shift: Austin’s Native Bats”
We’re collaborating with renowned artist Juliet Whitsett on a piece called “The Night Shift – Getting to Know Austin’s 9 Local Bat Species” for her well-loved Really Small Museum. Juliet is an Austin-based artist and arts and environmental educator specializing in biodiversity, ecological storytelling, and public engagement. Her eco-inspired art, focused on at-risk species, has graced the pages of Texas Monthly and her Really Small Museum project was recently voted the Second Best Place to View Art in Austin, behind only the Blanton Museum.
Most Austinites are aware of the Mexican free-tailed bat, the iconic bat of Central Texas, but we are super happy to introduce Austin’s eight other native species to visitors walking the pond trail at the Austin Nature and Science Center from Oct 14th- Nov 30th.
Join Austin Bat Refuge & Juliet Whitsett Art for a meet and greet at the pond in the Austin Nature and Science Center on Nov 8th from 12pm to 2pm.
See you there!

We’re so excited about this collaboration!
